Indiana Post 355 donates $5,000 to the National Emergency Fund

Friday, April 14, Atkins Saw Post 355 donated a check for $5,000 to The American Legion National Emergency Fund (NEF). Members of the post came down to National Headquarters that Friday to hand deliver the check to National Treasurer Shawn Long. Post members were presented with a thank you letter, a Certificate of Appreciation, a signed photo of National Commander Troiola and were provided with a guided tour of the National Headquarters.

"We enjoy giving to the public and to the school systems, but we put a big focus on veterans," said Post 355 member Donald McCoy, "To this day we've donated nearly $40,000."

The NEF is an emergency relief fund to assist Legionnaires and their families who have been affected by natural disasters such as hurricanes, earthquakes, wildfires or tornadoes like the ones that hit Southern Indiana earlier this month. Legionnaires affected by the tornadoes can get information and apply for an NEF grant by visiting the website legion.org/emergency.
