In Their Honor: A Mission of Remembrance and Action

Today, on National Suicide Prevention Day, the Indiana American Legion Foundation reaffirms our commitment to saving lives, supporting veterans in crisis, and strengthening the communities they call home.

Every day, we are reminded of the heavy toll suicide takes on our veterans, service members, and their families. Behind each number is a name. Behind each statistic is a story of service, sacrifice, and love for country. Each story is a family, a community, and a legacy that deserves to be honored.

That is why we are proud to introduce a new mission: In Their Honor.

About the Mission

In Their Honor is a memorial-driven mission that transforms grief into action and memory into purpose. Each gift is made in tribute, whether to a veteran we have lost, a loved one we carry forward in our hearts, or a hero who continues to inspire us today.

Every tribute tells a story. Every story celebrates a life. Every gift fuels programs that provide lifesaving assistance to veterans facing hardship, mental health challenges, and crisis situations. Together, we can honor the past by investing in the future.

Why It Matters

Through the generosity of donors, the Indiana American Legion Foundation supports vital programs across our state:

  • Veterans Benefits Assistance provided by American Legion Department Service Officers who deliver expert claims assistance, helping veterans and their families navigate the VA system to secure the benefits, care, and support they have earned through their military service.

  • Veterans in Crisis Relief provides emergency assistance for housing, food, and medical needs.

  • Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Efforts spread awareness, remove stigma, and connect veterans to help.

  • Youth Leadership and Education equip the next generation with the values of citizenship, service, and resilience.

When you give In Their Honor, you are not just making a donation. You are making a statement: that no veteran is forgotten, no family is alone, and no story ends without hope.

Join Us

On this National Suicide Prevention Day, we invite you to take action.

Dedicate a gift In Their Honor for the veteran who shaped your life, the friend you still carry in your heart, or the loved one whose story you want the world to remember.

Your tribute can change a life. Your gift can save one.
